Dwelling amongst the books.

Paperbacks and magazines so,

serve as a nest

Not for the lonesome cockatoo.

But for the well fed tabby

Purring amongst pages

Cradling itself, frizzy rounded.

Surrounded by, absorbed

abundant

with poems and photos

and plays and postcards

A rather pleasing state

I jealously admit

Sire

It is time for your speech

Your throne awaits

A confident Walt’s towards

My golden haven

Suddenly

Trumpets

Trumpets

Blair and blast

Right below my ear

Startled

I rise from my couch

No jewels await

Alas, it was my

Naughty tea kettle

Not a trumpet in sight

Tea Time

Shrimp

Pink, rose, peach

No other color

They grace

On stilts

As though their

Performance

Of the nutcracker

Will soon begin

Amongst

The pink, rose, peach

One sees

White, lacking tint

Lacking color

The hungry flamingo

Didn’t eat enough

Shrimp
